Research Interests
Garima’s research interests centre on issues of youth, gender, and work in the Global South. She is especially interested in the intersections between research, policy and international development practice.
Biography
Garima is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Department of Geography. She is working to build a Commission on Young People and Work in the Global South at Cambridge, along with Dame Barbara Stocking (President Emerita, 鶹Ƶ), Prof. Bhaskar Vira (Dept. of Geography) and Prof. Pauline Rose (REAL Centre and Dept. of Education). The Commission will focus on the regions of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
Her PhD thesis at Cambridge examined young women's entry into non-traditionally female job training in India. Before her PhD, Garima worked at the World Bank and Oxford Poverty Human Development Initiative.
