Jay hails from Liverpool and gained her Masters in Mathematics at Newcastle University. She was the first in her family to achieve a university degree and has a deep commitment to widening participation.

Previously Jay was the Head of Development at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College. Prior to that she worked at the University of Melbourne in senior leadership roles in Fundraising and in Research, Innovation and Commercialisation and as Head of Philanthropy at World Vision Australia.
